You know what's WORSE than cooking for two guys that eat like machines? Going out to a restaurant and the waiter telling you that, oh, the menu is set, so we'll bring out the starter and you share it and the same for the main meal and dessert. Noooo. This means that we split the bill three ways, but we split the food 45% 45% and 10%. Yeah, guess who's the 10%. Seriously? I can't just order something off the menu for myself? I don't really want three courses. NO, it's a SET menu, you have to share. But I don't want to share, not with two gannets. So, the starter comes out... fried seafood and bruschetta with tomatoes on top. I guess I'll have the tomatoes then. The main meal comes... an enormous dish of pasta. Gaaaah. You know, freedom of choice people. I don't WANT pasta, I mean... I do, but I DON'T. When I went to the bathroom, they had ordered a bottle of wine, to share (what's with the damn sharing?!) and poured me an enormous glass. But, I don't really want wine. Needless to say I was almost voted off the island for being a royal pain in the arse, which I understand, but come on, what was that? Some kind of sabotage? You MUST eat pasta and dessert and drink wine and you MUST pay for it. No. NO, I will not. I did. But I wasn't happy about it. Oh, did I tell you I'm going to Kenya and Tanzinah, and Zambia and and and Malawi and, oh, right, I told you yesterday. I think I need to make a celebratory new backpack purchase, the one I have is now over 7 years old and has been with me since I left for Tasmania on my very first backpacking adventure in 2006. It's been dragged through many a dirty steeet, it's been strapped onto rooftops, it's been dropped into puddles, it's been buried in sand, it's been drenched in rainwater, it's been lost in airports, it's been shat on by fighting cocks in the Philippines, it's fallen off motorbikes, it's rolled down hills, it's been dragged up stairs, it's been with me to 22 countries and lived to tell the tale. You know, on second thought, maybe I'll just get the zips fixed and patch it up a little.
