I booked a first class ticket, but after my "VIP" bus experiences in South East Asia I know all too well what "first class" means in third world countries. I came armed with a toilet roll and some hand sanitizer and am now having to share with the rest of the mzungus who are horrified at the state of the train, hahaha, I personally am absolutely loving it. I have a dinner date with my new friend at 8pm in the dining cart, I'm lying on my bed with my book and my Kingfisher strawberry wine feeling quite content with life...

The Lunatic Express: Nairobi to Mombasa
I've been sitting at Nairobi Train Station for almost two hours and really, I wouldn't mind staying another two, seriously. It's amazing. It's so old and crumbly and full of people and atmosphere, so many things to take pictures of, I'm in heaven. I've met the most amazing old man who's a photographer with the biggest god damn camera and lens I've ever seen in my life, he's an expat from Ireland and the most interesting person I've met in a long time, he's absolutely hilarious and has been telling me the most amazing stories since I met him, I think he's kind of a big deal, his wife is the CEO of Tusker's and breweries in East Africa, or something, and he's decided to rebel, leave his two bodyguards and driver at home and hop onboard the lunatic express to Mombasa on a photographic getaway and now we're friends for life amen. He's been looking at my pictures and, wait for it, I have a "very good eye". Yessss.
