It started off like this..
A lot of other stuff happened in between, but it was too traumatic to document (not really, I'm just being dramatic), but we eventually got to Bangkok, went looking for some street food and found THIS...
Needless to say, we didn't partake, but we did find some other yummy things... oh and we found THIS, um Golllf Bar (?), cocktails very strong, we don't check ID and restaurant. We did a bit of shopping, and by a bit, I mean a LOT.
We left Bangkok the next morning and eventually got to the Cambodian border, a few YEARS later aaaand we got our VISAS, that's Kirsten with her visa, and her new friend who brought it to her, champion.
Except, well, that wasn't the end. That was just the beginning, bahaha, they tricked US. We still had to go get stamped out... FOUR hours later.
And then... oleh, we decided to just stop waiting for the stupid bus and got a taxi, and then a tuk tuk, those are our new Irish friends, in the tuk tuk on the way to, tooo SOMEWHERE in Siem Reap.
Oh and these are our new Khmer friends, we told them we'd meet them at the club... we didn't meet them at the club, oops.
We got off our tuk tuk, found a place, they had dorm rooms (success!). Um, THESE were the dorm rooms...
A matress on the floor, with about 30 others. Only one DOLLAH.
Ummm, errr.
No thank you
So we walked around with our backpacks and eventually found another place, for $4 a night (it's crazy cheap here), we went out for dinner and tried some Khmer amok, it was so yum, Cambodian food is mmmhhhmmyum
We woke up the next day, walked around some pagodas, sat under some trees, tried some local food, walked along the river, visited some markets, bought some lonely planet guides (for $4 each), nothing like a bit of lonely planet inspiration for onward travels (Phillipines, Bali, Nepal, Tibet... or all of the above?)
We have an entire day trekking around the Angkor Temples planned for tomorrow, sunrise to sunset, so we're taking it easy this afternoon, I might do a Khmer cooking class this evening, that way I can eat chicken Khmer amok whenEVER I feel like it.
The end
