Working at the Grand Prix this weekend was insane. What an experience. We were working in one of the really big sponsor boxes right above the track facing the pit stops so we saw all the cars go in and out. The atmosphere was electric. The engines were so incredibly loud we had to wear ear plugs and the cars were going at CRAZY speeds. Celebrities and race car drivers were cruising around all over the place, it was so exciting. We got paid R3000 for the two days and honestly, it was the easiest work I've ever done. We just had to clear plates and walk around the room looking busy while we got to watch a race that most people paid thousands to go to. I took FULL advantage of every single freebie that I could get my hands on (naturally) and walked away with quite an impressive loot: a formula 1 hat, bag, pen, program and.. wait for it... one kilogram of freshly smoked and packed norweigan salmon worth R500. The after parties were insane, the whole city was absolutely buzzing. What a weekend. It would be fair to say that I LOVE my life right now.
