Mekong Delta, Vietnam

So we went on a $10, full day tour of the Mekong Delta and expected, well, what you would expect of a $10 tour and we were SO wrong. We had the most incredible day, we went in boats along the river, we saw coconut being made into a million different things: oil, sweets, pancakes (by the way, if you want your skin to be like SILK overnight... raw coconut oil,  it's incredible, top tip)

We cycled around the beautiful islands and saw pretty things everywhere
The prettiest of all being this
little pony with a flower in its hair
We found the BEST laundromat... EVER
I wore the hat, the entire day, yes I did
By the way, a few things about this picture:
1. What's missing from my necklace? Yeah my silver Africa pendant (it just disappeared and I'm quite sad about it)
2. My conciliatory owl top, it's the best top in the world and it makes me feel less sad about my necklace
3. Do you see the thingies in my hair (they make me forget ALL about the necklace)
and 4. I'm taking a picture of myself in a Vietnamese rowing boat... I. rock
We drank traditional honey tea: raw honey, pollen, kumquat amd hot water... it was delicios
Aaaand we drank snake flavoured bad decision juice. I say "we", but really I mean Kirsten

The highlight of the day, however, was when a group of locals, in broken Enlgish, accompanied by a badly tuned guitar sang
"if you're happy and you know it clap your hands"
It. Was. Incredible

So, I would highly recommend a $10 delta tour, if for no other reason than to drink fermenting snake and sing childrens songs

Cracking day. Today is slightly less craking as I'm sitting in an internet cafe doing all SORTS of admin. Dodo brains over here booked a return flight back to London thinking she could just change the date as and when she pleases, oh how wrong she was. Can't change the date, don't want to go back to stinky London, need to make a plan.

I'm thinking Lombok, Bali, Gili Islands. Orrr the Philippines. I wrote a list of everthing I LOVE and went from there: I love turqoise water and white sand, I love pretty fish, I love snorkelling, I'd love to learn how to dive, I love pretty sunsets and the beach and going for walks, I love swimming and being healthy, I love eating fresh fruit and seafood and I love everything coconut, I love hammocks and tree houses and relaxing and sea breezes, I love temples and jungles and I love the idea of working at an orphanage. So, I figured, if I travel around Bali, Lombok and the Gili Islands, or if I decide to go to the Philippines.. I'm pretty sure I can find ALL of that. Now I'm excited and very keen to get all this admin out the way. We're off to Hoi An tomorrow and then Halong Bay where we'll be until 25th January when we arrive back in Bangkok and I get on a flight to, toooo... destination UNKNOWN
