Abu Dhabi

Holy smokes! Abu Dhabi is AMAZING, there are camels EVERYWHERE, shiny stuff and wafts of delicious food you've never even heard of. Hahaha... TRICKED YOU. It smells like pizza and there are perfume counters everywhere and screaming babies, which I guess is only fair, it IS an airport afterall... but what's out THERE? Sigh, if only I had more time.

Just arrived in Abu Dhabi now, 7 hour wait for my plane to London, yay! I LOVE airports, for so many reasons, but mainly because, no matter what time of the day it is, you can order a cosmopolitan or sample the local beer, and no one looks at you funny. I mean, I’m sure on someone’s pre-set clock, you should really be drinking anyways! I love the variety, you can find almost anything and anyone here, at any time of the day. I love the lack of commitment, the only thing you’re committed to doing, is getting through the boarding gates on time. Airport time is completely yours. You can wander aimlessly up and down, stare shamelessly at strange people, or douse yourself in duty-free perfume. It’s like undocumented time in the space-time continuum, you can be as weird and as random as you want, and it doesn’t even count! Diet? What diet?! That word doesn’t even exist in airports. If there are only stale donuts and M&Ms for breakfast… well, you know, a girl needs sustenance.

Very tempted to get a taxi to the city centre for a quick look around but the lovely gentleman next to me has told me, very emphatically, “No lady. Bad idea. No”. Soooo, I think I’ll just listen to old smarty pants over here and stay inside the airport.
